Questions we get on the phone

Do I need a guide license or draw a tag to hunt Missouri?+

No draw. Missouri sells deer and turkey permits over the counter at mdc.mo.gov, including to nonresidents. You buy your own permit before you arrive. The deposit does not include it.

What about the Kansas property?+

Kansas residents buy deer permits over the counter. Nonresidents apply in a spring draw, with the application window in April. If you want La Cygne and miss the draw, your deposit moves to the Liberal, Missouri property.

How does the deposit work?+

A flat deposit per hunter holds your dates. The balance is due when you arrive. Deposits are not refundable, but cancel 30 or more days out and the full deposit moves to another date within 12 months.

How many hunters at a time?+

Up to ten per week across 1,200 contiguous acres at Liberal and four at La Cygne. Each hunter has at least two stand or blind setups so you can move with the wind.

Is lodging included?+

The cabin at Liberal sleeps two and goes to the first hunters who book each week, at no extra charge. Everyone else gets our Lamar motel list, 15 minutes from the gate. Covered parking, laundry and a hot shower at the cabin are open to all hunters in camp. La Cygne has no lodging; use Paola or Louisburg.

Is this fully guided or semi-guided?+

Tondo sets the stands, drives you in and out, and helps on recovery. Turkey mornings are guided with calling. Deer sits are yours alone unless you ask for company in the blind.

What about hunter education?+

Missouri requires it for anyone born on or after January 1, 1967. Kansas, for anyone born on or after July 1, 1957. Out-of-state cards are accepted. Missouri also sells an Apprentice Hunter Authorization if you have no card.

Do you have trophy fees?+

No. The price is the price. We ask that you pass young bucks, and Tondo will show you what that looks like on this ground.

Can I bring a non-hunting guest?+

Yes, at $150 a night when the cabin is open. Youth under 16 hunt at half price with a paying adult.

What is the thermal coyote hunt?+

A guided night hunt where you run our thermal and night-vision optics on suppressed rifles we provide. It starts with a range session so you know the gear. Both properties, December through March is best.

Can I fish?+

Yes. The Liberal ponds hold crappie, largemouth bass, channel catfish and bluegill. Fishing is $125 a day on its own and an easy add to a hunt week. Missouri fishing permit required.

What is the CWD situation?+

Barton County sat in Missouri's CWD Management Zone in 2025-26. Deer are Telechecked by 10 p.m. on the day of harvest and before leaving the county. We handle it with you and can point you to a processor in the zone.

Do you process or mount?+

We skin, clean and process your game on site and pack the meat for the drive home. For mounts we cape the animal and deliver it to a local taxidermist we work with.

What if my rifle has a problem?+

A gunsmith is part of the venture and on the property, with a range on site. Zero checks, scope and extractor problems, and most field repairs are handled the same day.

What if the weather is bad?+

We hunt. Weather does not change the deposit terms. If roads close or the state cancels a season, we move your dates.
